Types of Computers

A computer is an electronic machine that helps us work, learn, store information, and solve problems.

1. Microcomputers

Small computers are usually used by one person. Examples include:

a. Desktop Computer:

A computer that stays on a desk. It has a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

b. Laptop Computer:

A small portable computer that we can carry easily.

c. Workstation: 

A powerful computer used for special and difficult tasks.

d. Palmtop Computer: 

A very small computer that can fit in the palm of the hand.

e. Smartphone: 

A mobile phone that can perform many computer tasks.

2. Minicomputers

Minicomputers are medium-sized computers that can serve several users at the same time.

3. Mainframe Computers

Mainframe computers are large and powerful computers used by banks and big organisations to process large amounts of data.

4. Supercomputers

Supercomputers are the fastest and most powerful computers. They are used for weather forecasting and scientific research.

·      Supercomputer: Very powerful computer.
